Defense in Depth

Protecting against IM and P2P attacks requires defense in depth to both block the malicious programs from being downloaded and executed as well as to stop the spreading of these viruses and worms.

Anti-virus programs and personal firewalls provide a good solution for protecting end-user machines from malicious programs, but organizations must also deploy IM gateways to stop IM and P2P viruses and worms from spreading.
